About this resource
Description
Big O, little o and the O in octopus all come together in the Letter O Game, a sunny under-the-sea photo safari for preschool kids. At Funzy’s coral reef, friendly sea friends swim in holding up big bubbles, and each bubble holds a letter or a picture. Kids tap a sea friend, and when its bubble shows the right answer, the little camera zooms up to fill the screen, shows the answer big on its screen, and SNAPS the photo with a flash and a click. The photo prints out and flies into the photo album on the sand. Playing the letter o game again and again helps little learners recognize the big O and the little o, tell O apart from look-alike letters like Q, C and D, and know that octopus, otter, owl, orange and ox all start with O.
In this letter o phonics game, Funzy cheers kids on through three rounds. First they snap the big O among letters like Q, C and D, with the tip that big O is a big circle, all the way around, with no tail. Then they snap the little o among look-alikes like c, a and e, with the tip that little o is a small circle, all the way around. Last, they snap the pictures that start with O and skip the sun, the cup and the cat. The letters and pictures a child mixed up come back for one more try. Funzy reads every direction out loud, names each answer (“Octopus! Octopus starts with the letter O.”) and gives a kind hint after a wrong choice.
Kids build streaks of 3, 5 and 10 in a Row, chase a High Score and go for a Perfect Game, and every round ends with a bubbly celebration. Every bubble glows and pulses so little eyes know where to look. A golden photo can sparkle once a round, and kids can tap the starfish and the oyster on the sand for a surprise. At the end, kids earn up to five stars.
