Learning the long o sound is a big step for young readers, and this Long O Worksheet gives second graders focused practice with the two spellings they meet most often. When the letter o says its own name, it can be spelled with the oa team, as in boat and road, or with the silent e pattern, as in home and stone. Sorting those two patterns out is what turns careful sounding-out into smooth, confident reading.
This long o worksheet keeps the practice short and clear so students can concentrate on listening first and spelling second.
