About this resource
Description
This Seasonal Clothing Worksheet builds the everyday vocabulary students need to talk about the clothes people wear in warm weather and in cold weather. First graders read six familiar clothing words, decide whether each one belongs to summer or to winter, and write it in the matching column. Sorting words this way turns a list of nouns into real understanding, because a student has to picture the item, think about the weather it is made for, and then commit to an answer on the page.
The sheet is printed in the Have Fun Teaching template with a clean word box, two labeled sort columns, and a bright crayon illustration under each column so the categories are easy to see. A second section adds four brand new clothing words that are not in the word box, which asks students to apply the idea instead of copying it. Print it, hand it out, and every child has ten quick decisions to make. A full answer key is included on the last page.
What’s Included
- One printable Seasonal Clothing Worksheet in PDF format
- A six word clothing word box in alphabetical order
- Two labeled sort columns, Summer and Winter, with writing lines
- An illustrated clothing example under each season
- Four extra clothing words to sort on writing lines
- A complete answer key
Three Reasons This Helps Kids
- Sorting forces a real decision about every word, so students remember the meaning instead of the spelling alone.
- The pictures give a second way into the same idea, which helps readers who are still building confidence with print.
- The new words in the second section prove the skill transferred, and they show a teacher exactly who is ready to move on.
Teacher and Parent Ideas
Start by asking students what they wore to school today and why they chose it. Read the six words in the box aloud together before anyone writes, then let partners talk through one tricky word such as sunglasses. After the page is finished, walk to the window and ask which column today’s weather belongs in. At home, this first grade vocabulary worksheet pairs well with packing a bag for a pretend trip, sorting real clothes from a drawer, or drawing an outfit for each season on the back of the page.
