How to teach Word Relationships
Using this Word Diving Deep Sorting Words Activity, students sort the word cards into categories (compare, addition, contrast, example, sequence, and summary) in order to see the relationship between various words in each category.
Understanding the relationships and meanings of words is important when students are learning to comprehend and produce narrative writing. This activity will help students identify the relationships between various words in six categories and help them practice using them correctly.
For durability, print this activity on cardstock. Cut out the word and category cards and laminate.
This sort can help your students to identify relationships among various adverbs. Once your students can identify the relationships between these words, they will better understand their meanings when reading them in context.
