Description
Multiplying and graphing belong together, and this Multiplication Bar Graphs Worksheet puts them on one page. Third graders solve six single-digit multiplication problems, then build a scaled bar graph from the products they found. Because every square on the graph stands for 2, students cannot copy a number straight onto the grid. They have to reason about the scale, count squares carefully, and check that each bar lands on the right gridline. That is exactly the thinking third grade standards ask for: fluency with multiplication facts, and drawing and reading a scaled bar graph.
Using this multiplication bar graphs worksheet, students work through Part A first, multiplying to find the product for each lettered problem and writing it in the answer box. In Part B they color a bar for every letter, then answer questions that send them back to the graph they just made. One question asks which letter shows the greatest product, one asks them to compare two bars, and one is a word problem about crayon packs. The final item asks students to explain a classmate’s mistake about the scale, so they finish by putting the idea into their own words. An answer key is included on the last page.
