Beginning sounds are the first step into reading, and the letters F, G and H are three of the most useful consonants a young reader can master. When a child looks at a picture, says its name out loud, and hears the very first sound in that word, they are doing the exact work that phonics instruction is built on. This Beginning Sounds F G H Pictures Worksheet gives Kindergarten students a calm, uncluttered page to practise that skill: six friendly watercolor pictures, one clear writing line under each, and no distractions to pull their attention away from the sound they are listening for.
This Kindergarten beginning sounds worksheet is designed to be used with almost no preparation. Print one copy per student, then work through the top half together. Point to the fish, say the word slowly, and stretch the first sound so the class can hear it: /f/ … fish. Once children can isolate the sound, they write the matching lowercase letter on the wide line inside the picture card. The bottom half of the page moves from listening to letter formation, with dotted three-line guides for tracing F f, G g and H h and a second set of blank guides so children can write each pair again on their own. Because the sounds are mixed rather than grouped, students have to listen to every picture instead of copying the answer above.
