The Sequence Sandwich Worksheet helps second graders practice putting story events in order. Sequencing is a key reading skill: when children can tell what happened first, next, then and last, they understand and remember a story much better. This sequence sandwich worksheet uses a short, friendly story about making lunch to make that skill concrete.
Students read a one-page story about Londyn, who makes two turkey and cheese sandwiches for her dad, step by step. Signal words such as first, next, after that and finally guide young readers through each step. On the question page, students answer four multiple-choice sequencing questions and then write two steps from the story in the correct order. Use it as a reading center, a small-group lesson or independent practice.
