Summarizing is the act of taking larger selections of text and reducing them to their bare essentials. Summarizing is pulling out the main idea, the gist of a text, the main points.
Read a short text. Next, write a summary of the text by using skills such as
underlining, note-taking, and finding key words. Then, rewrite the summary so that it is even shorter and more to the point by choosing only the most important information relevant to the main idea
